I was going through my Instagram when I saw a flyer inviting all girls to participate in a pageant for an organization called ”Mexicanos-Americanos Unidos for Casa Puebla in Passaic.” I was determined to do it. I applied and I got a call the very next day asking me to come in for a radio interview. I was very nervous but my mother was with me to support me even though she did not want me to join. She thought it was a waste of time and money but she was still there for me because I really wanted to be part of it. As the weeks went by everything got more serious. There were 6 others girls competing along with me. We had a photoshoot session and practice 2 times a week. Along with the pageant, I was also in the marching band and I had to keep up with both. I would miss an hour of the pageant practice because I couldn’t miss band practice but I would go right after band practice was done. The person in charge said the two weeks before the big day was very important because we were going to have practice back to back but I couldn’t be there because I had to go to band camp. I missed a whole week of practice for the pageant. I tried to keep up with the pageant practice because the announcement was only a few days away. I got the dress the day before but I was ready for the big day. I had to leave early from band practice because I had to get ready by 6 pm. It was finally time to go out on stage and represent beautiful Mexico. I was ready to give it my all. Minutes before they told us they were going to announce the winners, I went to the DJ and asked him to play this song when they announce the Queen no matter who wins. I am proud to say that I was ”Miss Mexico 2014” for Passaic this was my victory song. I would do it all over again.
