I was rushed to the hospital because my foot and leg were swollen. They were actually about 6 times their normal size. I had a growing infection in my foot that wasn't treated properly at a hospital that I went to in Central Jersey. The infection had been growing and getting worse and worse every day. One day my mother looked at my leg and rushed me to St. Joseph's in Paterson. By this time, I was screaming and crying because of the amount of pain that was rushing through my foot and leg. Once I arrived, they immediately took me to the back and began running tests. They called for the surgeons. I remembered praying and praying for a different outcome. The nurse later called the doctor back and he told me that the infection had gone into the bone of two of my toes. I was devastated. I'm a dancer and here I am needing an amputation on my foot. And it needed to happen because the infection was going to kill me.
On the operating table, I had a dream. I dreamt that I was directing a choir. They were singing this song. When I woke up, I turned on some music and this song was playing. I took it as a sign. I was going to possibly die. My mother should have been making funeral arrangements. I felt like God stepped in right on time. Despite losing the second and third toes on my left foot, I'm alive and well. I'm getting better every day. He (God) is truly my hero.
